Chelsea and Mourinho Part Ways - Not so Special After All?

Today the football world is in shock with the departure of Jose Mourinho from Chelsea football club. Mourinho has guided Chelsea to five trophies in 3 seasons not to mention a unbeaten home record for a long period that is still standing, looking at this record you have to say why would you part ways with a manager like Mourinho?

Jose Mourinho

No doubt all the speculation has left the finger pointing at Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, there has been rumors with a rift over their last season's signing Andriy Shevchenko and the recent performance of the team including the recent draw in the UEFA Champions League. In all honesty I guess it would of happened sooner or later but has Abramovich forced him to leave because of the interference of how Chelsea play on the field from the owner. Well come on it is clear that Shevchenko was brought and paid for by Abramovich. Jose Mourinho didn't have any faith in his ability and he was right £30 million for a out of form player who has struggled with the physical one-touch Premiership Football of last season. Jose never wanted Shevchenko to play first team football in his squad but I guess the owner wanted his open quotes Star Player end quotes to be winning all their games 10-0 and netting half of those goals ...which is not happening.

Lets put it this way Shevchenko cost £30 million and has scored 14 goals in all competition during the 2006/07 season. That's £2.14 million a goal...hmm a bargain?

Another thing Roman Abramovich wanted and never got was winning the European Champions League possibly the biggest domestic competition in the World. Well after spending maybe £100+ million over 3 years I guess you should expect to have that trophy in your cabinet. Getting rid of Mourinho will not get you this European prize or the more attacking style football you want Abramovich. If Abramovich thinks he knows better on how to make Chelsea the best club in the world by winning every game with a big margin then he is wrong. He should of bought Barcelona if he wanted more flare with the team he owns.

All I can say is if Roman Abramovich wants to control and manage the club on and off the pitch then why not sit in the dugout and take over as manager?

From what the BBC is reporting a Avram Grant has taken over as the new manager of Chelsea, ok one question "Who is Avram Grant?". apparently he was brought in to help and support the club, so he was kind of Roman Abramovich's puppet..."Well Yes!". "Know who he is now?"...well no! "Do we care?" well personally been a Man Utd fan I don't. All I care about is the game this Saturday, Man Utd Vs. Chelsea. So this Avram Grant has a mountain to climb with his first game, of course Man Utd will beat them but I guess you will miss the ego of Mourinho and Chelsea, its no fun beating Chelsea when their down.

No doubt not just Chelsea will miss the charisma and over confidence of Jose Mourinho, I think English football will miss his presence and what he has done for Chelsea.

Apple iPhone - UK Release Date

One of the most highly anticipated technology gadgets of this year has finally been given a date for when it will be available to everyone in the UK. On the 9th of November this year O2 and Carphone Warehouse stores will be selling the iPhone under the mobile network O2. If you are unfamiliar with this device the iPhone is a MP3 Player (iPod) / Portable Web Browser / Digital Camera / erm...did I mention its a Phone as well?

The iPhone is made by Apple the same guys who make Mac's and iPods, it makes sense for them to venture into the mobile phone market seen as you can pretty much say they have a excellent share of the MP3 Players out there and also Apple Mac's have recently had a surge in popularity due to the long delay of Vista and security / stability issues of Microsoft Windows.

But how does the iPhone differ to other mobile phones already out there? You have to remember that this is the first product that Apple has released to compete in this market and they pretty much have stiff competition with Sony Ericsson and Nokia.

Key Features
Apple iPhone

As you can see by the features of the iPhone the best has to be the multi-touch widescreen, no doubt this will be one of the features that will lure potential customers and myself included. What also is great about the device is the inclusion of the Mac OS X operating system which has been modified to fit the iPhone this also includes iTunes for music playback.

But with all things great there has to be something that Apple has missed...3G Technology? Most brand new phones will include 3G Technology the chances are the phone you are using or considering to purchase next is 3G capable. All things considered 3G is a new technology but has slowly been accepted and used more often, with the iPhone's features surely it would work nicely with 3G. The unfortunate idea of not including it in the iPhone leaves some to speculate whether this will hinder the sales of it here seen as other rivals include it in their premium phone models.

Not all is bad though the iPhone does include WiFi capability so if you are at home, in the office walking about outside in a WiFi hotspot, you can access the internet and email on the move. This almost makes up for the lack of 3G support with only a few phones using WiFi it makes the iPhone appear further ahead in comparison. With the inclusion of a 8GB Flash Drive it can transform the device into a iPod or even better an video iPod, it would be quite interesting for me especially the video playback on the device rather than playing music with good battery life expected it would be an excellent feature.

The iPhone also sports a 2.0 Megapixel camera, firstly you have to be aware that it does not include a flash, kind of reminds me of the Nokia N90 that came with a 4GB micro drive and was prone to many problems including poor camera quality, bad battery life and a buggy phone operating system. From experience I always expect the quality of a phone camera to be nowhere near as good to that of a digital camera but comparing it to other phones many reviews indicate the quality is excellent.

When the iPhone is released it surely will cause a lot of interest but strangely enough it has been reported that O2 and The Carphone Warehouse will have their own little demonstration of the iPhone all day but will not make it available for purchase until 6pm in the evening on the 9th November 2007. My guess is for the convenience of everyone so that all of us miserable 9 - 5 workers have a chance to snap up an iPhone on the day of release there is also indications they will be open till late possibly 10pm just for the iPhone release.

A must for any Apple enthusiast or someone looking for the latest mobile phone. I just hope the iPhone lives up to the hype it has received over the past few months. As I consider myself looking for the latest phone and a Apple enthusiast hopefully I will get my hands on one in a months time to get a good review for you.
