This week could be the one to forget for the English football loving nation as we watched in misery on Wednesday to see the home side beaten and knocked out of next years European Championships in Austria and Switzerland.

Euro 2008 is the first competition England have failed to qualify for in 14 years.
This was the last qualifying match and England were handed a life line by Israel on Saturday by beating Russia 2-1. All England had to do was either win or draw at home against Croatia. But as always England can never perform when they need to. They went into the game expecting Croatia to be a walk over as they had already qualified for next year’s tournament prior to the game.
Throughout this qualification stage England has looked pretty disappointing with the lack of passion, style and put it simply wining results. The fans have been reacting badly since the start of these poor performances with Steve McLaren getting the most of the heat as well as the England players. One thing is for certain the England players have somewhat lacked the creative passion they show playing for their clubs, quite rightly been called prima donnas and sporting playboys with their fast cars and even faster women.
Less than 12 hours after the defeat by Croatia, the news we all knew, hoped and suspected would happen was the sacking of Steve McLaren on Thursday morning. I suspect everyone else knew the F.A decision before the meeting apart from the former England manager who wanted the stay in the role and didn’t consider handing in his resignation. After all McLaren was never the first choice and he knew that after his predecessor threw his towel into the ring last year.
Steve Mclaren was sacked the following morning after the failure to qualify for next summers tournament
So who is going to replace McLaren in the role which most people consider to be impossible? The fans favorite and mine as well is former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho who is still available, Fabio Cappello, Martin O’Neil, Alan Shearer and even Arsène Wenger. Well who ever fills the role will be required to handle the high expectations of the fans, press intrusions, getting 110% out of the players and most important Winning Games to Get the Points.

Good news for all UK Anime fans, the announcement at Amecon 2007 was that the convention would run again in August 2008. On the amecon.org forums the committee has now confirmed the convention will take place between the dates of Friday 8th to Sunday 10th August 2008.
According to the post on the forum which details can be found here, it states that registration will open for the event from the 18th November 2007. You would be able to register for the convention via their online system once it is available but no further information has been given on the events to take place during the weekend, no doubt they will be provided once we are closer to August.

Overall this has put a lot of minds / withdrawal symptoms at ease...as if there were any in the first place. I personally don’t have any problems with the long wait till August as its only November now only 10 more months left...hang on!! Only 10 more months? I need something to fill the gap.
