Its that time of the year again when we look back at the Highlights and pivotal moments of the year that is known as 2007. With Christmas Day tomorrow and my trip to Berlin for the New Year in a few days I thought this would be the best time to recap on the events of the past year.
In no particular order here is a list of Key Events of 2007.
With the seasonal holidays around the corner and the New Year fast approaching including my trip to Berlin, I guess I have start packing for Germany and wrapping those presents but I will be posting my next blog entry early next year. I will also include my favourite pictures of my holiday when I return and also be completing my site www.nx-studio.net

Ok for all you gamers out there I have a pop quiz for you. What do you get when you mix Indiana Jones with Gears of War style combat then add a twist of Tomb Raider mixed with gorgeous graphics and…ok I will get to the point. Another game for the Playstation 3 has been released in time for the Christmas Season titled Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is a highly rated game that is exclusive for the Playstation 3 console, I am disappointed to say I should have added it to my Top Ten Highly Anticipated Games from one my recent posts. This game has somewhat been quietly making its appearance known.

The game revolves around the search for the lost treasure of Eldorado as you play Drake a descendant of the explorer Sir Francis Drake you must find the missing treasure your ancestor tried to find during his lifetime. Along the way you find a group of tomb robbers / pirates who are also searching for the treasure and want their hands on it too. There also a few puzzles which can be quite easy or semi hard to solve as well but it gives a good balance to the action and puzzle elements.
For those who haven’t played the game it takes on a third person shooter viewing angle just like the XBOX 360’s Gears of War and it also includes platform elements similar to Tomb Raider. Myself not always over keen on the third person viewing style found this one very appealing and easy to use. A lot of the time in the game you are jumping from platform to platform. If you are not a fan of this style of gameplay mostly due to the timing and positioning of your jumps then you will actually like this as platform jumping can be quite forgiving. The voice acting is excellent and cut scenes appear to be rendered with the game engine and the use of motion capture to create accurate moving characters.

The graphics of the game really bring out the quality of the Playstation 3 console, this has to be the best PS3 game to date taking advantage of the console’s new technology like the blu-ray drive in terms of loading. The gameplay is smooth and colourful with the luscious jungle and plantation. The graphics are superb with the plants swaying in the wind, the HDR (high dynamic range) lighting, detail on the textures with bump mappings and of course the excellent lifelike water with the pixel shader capabilities of the Playstation 3 Nvidia graphics card the RSX. With the Sony blu-ray drive enabling bigger capacity on the medium leaving the game with little compression meaning the game doesn’t use loading screens as everything is run seamlessly while you play which gives the game no interruptions.

A definite game to get this holiday season for your Playstation 3, for most of you who own a PS3 no doubt over the past year you probably had to defend your expensive console purchase. With this excellent game exclusively for the PS3 you can be a proud owner of the console and game.
